WESLEY SPELLING BEES
This year the Wesley Academy Spelling Bee will be twice as exciting! Grades 2-5 will compete in the Lower School and Grades 6-8 will compete in the Middle School Bee. Spelling words will be taken from a variety of sources including classroom spelling lists and vocabulary (such as basal literature units), Words Are Wonderful, and Wordly Wise.
On December 4, each student will take a written spelling test. The class with the highest average in the Lower School division and the class with the highest average in the Middle School Division will receive a certificate and an ice cream party. On December 11, the top three students in each Lower School class and the top four students in each Middle School class will receive individual certificates of recognition and will represent their class in the Preliminary Oral Wesley Bees. The top six spellers in each division of the Preliminary Bee will receive Spelling Bee pins and certificates. They will also compete in the Wesley oral finals on February 23 at the Wesley Championship Bees. First, second, and third place winners in each division will receive ribbons with Bee medals. The two first place winners will have their names added to the Wesley Spelling Bee plaque.
