CPR and First Aid Certification
All faculty and staff are CPR and First Aid certified, and are trained in the safe handling of blood-borne pathogens. Blood-borne pathogens are contaminated body fluids.
On-Site Defibrillator
Wesley Academy has a defibrillator located in the clinic. According to the American Heart Association, the use of a defibrillator within the first three minutes of a ventricular fibrillation event increases the victim's chance of survival.
Guidelines on When to Keep Your Child Home from School
If your child has a temperature of 100 or over in a 24-hour period
If your child vomits or has diarrhea in the 12 hours before school starts in the morning
If your child has nasal drainage that is green or yellow consistently throughout the day
If your child is recovering from surgery or another type of procedure that requires
regular pain medication other than Tylenol or Advil
Screenings
Throughout the year, the following screening exams: hearing, vision, scoliosis, and Acanthosis Nigricans (diabetes) will be administered. Parents will be notified of any concerns.
